Atlas Electric is Boston Dynamics' fully electric humanoid robot, replacing the hydraulic Atlas platform that defined advanced robotics research for over a decade. Standing 152 cm tall and weighing 89 kg, it is more compact than its predecessor but significantly more capable. Atlas Electric features 28 degrees of freedom, a 25 kg payload capacity, and moves at 2.5 m/s. The robot's joint design allows movements that exceed human range of motion, including 360-degree head rotation and unusual limb configurations. Boston Dynamics, a Hyundai subsidiary, is positioning Atlas Electric for real-world commercial deployment in automotive manufacturing and logistics. The platform uses advanced perception and AI planning systems.
